There isn’t anything better than warm, molasses cookies and a cup of tea!
1/2 cup shortening
A little over 1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 cup dark brown molasses
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon white vinegar
3 cups flour
1- 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
Combine vinegar with milk and let sit for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, cream shortening and brown sugar. Add molasses and vinegar/milk mixture. Stir in flour, baking soda, ginger, and cinnamon. Drop cookie dough by tablespoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet and top with a sugar mixture comprised of 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/3 cup brown sugar. Place in oven at 375 degrees for about 8-10 minutes.
