Ingredients for Cookie Dough:
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
Ingredients for Icing:
1/4 cup canned vanilla icing
1/2 teaspoon Southern Comfort whiskey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Beat shortening. Add sugar, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt and beat again. Next mix in molasses, egg, and vinegar. Beat in flour. Divide dough in 1/2 and wrap in waxed paper. Place divided dough in freezer for 15 minutes. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out dough using cookie cutters and place the cut out shapes on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake in a 375 degree preheated oven for about 7 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and allow them to cool on wire racks. Once completely cool, combine icing ingredients and decorate!
